Rafa has won it a record 12 times and with utter dominance for more than a decade.
After Monte Carlo, there are another two extremely popular tennis tournaments in the Masters 1000 category on the line. In the Spanish capital of Madrid and Italy’s city of Rome, they are played back to back. These are extremely difficult to win both physically and mentally as the clay is an extremely slow surface. In both these great events also, Rafa has been highly dominant. He has won 9 trophies at Italian Open and 5 at the Madrid Masters.
These two championships have been scheduled in September this year. It is just before the clay spectacle of the French Open that will be played in October this year. The two players with most Masters Championships are Spain’s Rafael Nadal with 35 trophies and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic with 34 titles.
